About Yva YANG
Hyojoo Yang is an award-winning director and screenwriter from Seoul, South Korea. Her short film Broken Night premiered at Busan International Film Festival and won a Sonje Award, the best short. In 2011, it won a Silver Bear at 61st Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin and was subsequently shown at numerous international film festivals. She received a Bachelor of Art in Directing at the Korea National University of Arts, in the school of Film, TV & Multimedia. Yang resides in Berlin since 2018 seeking new ways of expanding her artistic view and studies at Universität der Künste Berlin. Her focus is the interplay between artistic experimentation and narrative filmmaking.
